Laurel Sanders is a Ph.D. student in the History program.  She has a Master’s degree in Public History from Appalachian State University and has some past experience in oral history.  She also worked as an historical interpreter at Grand Portage National Monument in Minnesota.  She comes from the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina and is happy to be exploring new histories here in Iowa with History Corps.
