Below is a chart showing the grant money (sorted smallest to largest) received by Iowa libraries.
Thirty-six (36) communities received a grant of $10,000 to build their libraries. Thirty-one (31) communities received less than $10,000 for their libraries, and 32 communities received more than $10,000 for their libraries. In 1902, Waterloo was given $45,000 to build two libraries.
In 1899, Davenport was given a grant of $75,000, and in 1901, Cedar Rapids also received a grant for $75,000.
In 1907, Laurens received $3800 to build a public library.
